The
Dungeons & Dragons
New Young Ones Contest

Welcome to the Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon New Young Ones Contest, wherein fans of the 1983-1985 animated series Dungeons & Dragons are invited to become the Dungeon Masters of the 2000's — and to bring six new Young Ones to a Realm Reborn!

This is how it works:  You are invited to suggest new characters as possible new Young Ones, giving a description which will be posted here at this site. When enough new characters have been suggested, all the fans will be asked to vote for their six favorite — who will become the Gang of the New Millenium!

The submissions phase of this contest will last through December 31, 2005, and voting to select the six favorite New Young Ones submitted will begin on January 1st, and run through June 23rd. Results will be announced on June 30th, 2006.

The fans will then be invited to submit their fanfiction — scripts, short stories, poems, what you will — and their fanart for the enjoyment of their fellow fans! Who knows, if the stuff is good enough, we may even inspire TSR or Saban or Marvel or Disney or WHOEVER owns the centers to make a brand spankin' new D&D Cartoon — maybe even hire one or two of us to work on it? (Well, you never know...)

So far, Tann, your genial Contest Organizer, has suggested three rules.

These are

1) All Young Ones are assumed to be at least Neutral in alignment, and Good is preferred. Evil characters will not be considered.

2) Any character submitted becomes part of the Public Domain of The Realm, and the original author loses ALL control over him, her, or it, except in that author's own fanfiction (within reason).  The character has become a "series regular" and cannot be killed off, married, maimed, or in any way irrevocably altered any more than one of the main characters of any TV series would be.

3) No interpretation of the D&DC milieu is to be implied in any submitted character description except what can be explicitly supported from the original cartoon.  This is to keep other authors from being strait-jacketed by any one fan's interpretation of the D&DC universe.

Please e-mail Tann at tannenhaeuser@hotmail.com with objections, suggestions, or comments.
